With Local Government Elections set to take place in 2022, Brent residents should remember that their usual polling station location might change when the big day in May comes around.
Brent Council is seeking residents' views on the proposed new Polling Districts and the locations of the Polling Places/Stations within the new Polling Districts.
In 2019, The Local Government Boundary Commission for England completed an Electoral Review of the London Borough of Brent ward arrangements. The changes to the wards and polling districts will come into effect at the Local Council Elections on Thursday, 5 May 2022.
The boundaries of all wards other than Kilburn have changed. As a result, there will be an increase of Wards from 21 to 22. This will mean changes to the current ward boundaries and the polling districts within them. Brent will be represented by 57 ward councillors, six fewer than under the current arrangements.
Each ward is divided into several polling districts, and each district has a polling place, such as a school or community centre. All voters are allocated to a polling district and its polling place/station.
The consultation runs until Friday, 15 October. Local political parties, MPs and Councillors are being consulted, and views are also invited from residents, disability groups and other stakeholders. We welcome thoughts and views from anyone, especially local electors, about our proposals.
Carolyn Downs, Returning Officer for Brent Council, said: "Most of the existing polling stations will remain the same. However, we want to hear from those who live in a district where changes might happen.
"We've created a set of proposals for new polling districts and polling places for each of the wards. We've ensured these proposals include polling districts and polling places that are accessible and user-friendly."
