Brent Communications

Thanks to the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme, children and young people across Brent can access a wide range of activities this winter school holiday, which will include a healthy meal. This is part of a wider national scheme funded by the Department for Education.

The aim of the programme is to support the physical and mental health and wellbeing of children and young people, encouraging them to engage in interactive and fun activities during the school holidays. The programme kicks off on 19 December 2022 and runs until 2 January 2023, and will be delivered by over 20 selected providers across Brent.

The programme will offer free places at a range of activities, and a healthy meal each day, to school-aged children and young people in Brent, who are eligible for and in receipt of benefits-related free school meals.

There will be a variety of activities and something for everyone of all ages including sports, dance, arts and crafts, day trips, cooking healthy food and much more. For older young people there will be photography, film and music production activities, helping Brent’s children and young people to stay active and have fun in a warm environment.

Cllr Gwen Grahl,
Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools

"Many of us are experiencing difficult times currently but we hope that as many children and young people can make use of the Holiday Activities and Food Programme. Not only to enjoy the various activities taking place, but also hot and nutritious meals."
