Hats, scarves, and hoodies are given to those who need them most this winter.
Our hard-working Trading Standards and Licensing teams seize hundreds of scarves, hoodies, and hats on Wembley Event days from illegal street sellers. These would usually be taken to recycling but are now distributed to local charities so that they can help keep those on the streets and those recovering from addiction warm this winter.

Councillor Harbi Farah, Cabinet Member for Safer Communities and Public Protection said: “Taking fake items off the streets is only fair for local businesses that play by the rules and is important so that you know that when you purchase something it is good quality. Councillor Neil Nerva, Cabinet Member for Health, Care and Wellbeing, said: “As the winter months approach, keeping the most vulnerable residents warm is very important. This project not only prevents unnecessary waste but also contributes to the well-being of our community who are facing the harsh reality of living on the streets.
“It's a small step with a significant impact I am thankful that we have so many amazing local organisations who do such amazing work on the ground and can help to distribute these items to those that need it most.”
Brent Council worked with St Mungos, B-3, Crisis, New Beginnings, and with refugees located at The Holiday Inn to distribute over 800 hoodies, scarves, and hats last week.
