Educational Psychology Service
Brent’s team of educational psychologists provides specialist, independent advice to young people, families and settings (pre-schools, schools and colleges).
They apply psychology (the study of thinking, learning and behaviour) to support the development, inclusion and wellbeing of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) aged from 2 to 25.
They do this in many different ways including:
- Talking with families, education staff and other professionals to plan strategies and interventions for individual pupils with SEND
- Working individually with children and young people to understand and communicate their perspective and needs
- Providing training in schools and other educational settings to help develop staff skills and promote inclusive practice
- Working with other professionals (e.g. social workers, CAMHS staff and speech and language therapists) to support decision-making about placement and provision for children and young people with SEND.
