Wellbeing and Emotional Support Team (WEST)

The Wellbeing and Emotional Support Team (WEST) is a targeted mental health service for vulnerable children and young people aged from four to 18 years old (up to 25 for people with special educational needs and disabilities).

The service was launched in January 2020 to improve access to local mental health provision and offers evidence-based support in schools for children and young people who are experiencing mild to moderate difficulties including anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties.

The team also provides:

  • Clinical advice and support
  • Signposting and training for professionals working directly with children, young people and their families
  • A telephone consultation service for children and young people, parents and professionals, offering support and advice and a possible referral to WEST or other relevant providers

In order to access WEST, children and young people must be a Brent resident, attend a Brent school/college and be registered with a Brent GP. Referrals can be made by schools, parents and professionals. Young people can also self refer.
