Brent Parks service presents Brent in Bloom 2022

Brent in Bloom is a competition that gives local people the chance to show off their gardening skills. It aims to make the Borough more attractive for residents and visitors, whilst at the same time raising awareness of the environment.

The Competition

Brent in Bloom planting competition has seven categories and when judged, marks are awarded for:

  • colour
  • design
  • quality of plants
  • cleanliness
  • sustainability

Entry to the competition is free and winners will receive up to £100 worth of vouchers!

Who can enter

The majority of people who enter are amateur gardeners but anyone can enter!

Whether you have a window box or hanging baskets, a pretty front garden, or run a business or pub, there’s the opportunity for you to take part.

Other than the Junior Gardener category all applicants must be over 18.

Front Garden - Planting

Awarded to the most colourful and imaginative design in a front garden, visible from the street

First place - £100 voucher

Second place - £50 voucher

Container - Planting

Baskets/tubs/window boxes seen from the street - residential properties only. No plants should be rooted into the ground.

First place - £50 voucher

Second place - £25 voucher

Business/Public Premises

Individual shop or business, church grounds, fire stations, hospitals, day centres, hotels and other licensed premises. The display must be visible from the street.

First place - £50 voucher

Second place - £25 voucher

Communal Gardens

Where a group of residents have come together. Sheltered housing, residential homes, blocks of flats, housing associations, etc.

First place - £50 voucher

Second place - £20 voucher

Gardening for Wildlife

Application form will explain criteria.

First place - £50 voucher

 

Junior Gardener

Applicants must be under 18

First place - £50 voucher

Second place - £20 voucher

Most Sustainable Idea

Use of recycled materials

First place - £50 voucher

Second place - £25 voucher

When does judging take place

The competition culminates with the winners acknowledged in September 2022.

Judging to take place from March 2022.

Those that are shortlisted will be looked at in person at location.
