Summary

Brent Council are currently looking for a Data Analyst Level 4 Apprentice to work in the Performance and Management Information team. Our apprenticeship schemes at Brent are just one of the ways we grow our
own talent within the borough. This apprenticeship is a good opportunity for individuals who are starting out on their work life journey at the age of 16 or you may be considering changing a career for a different working life. There isno age limit on an apprenticeship and this role will give you hands-on experience of Data analysis in Local Government by working as part of a team and assisting in the delivery of quality data reporting within the council.

The role and responsibilities

  • Undertake a number of roles related to the production of performance information, including data cleansing and statistical reporting.
  • Support the development of departmental improvement projects and programmes, undertaking any relevant research to understand problems to support the development of options to address them
  • Support the Children & Young People department’s responses to Freedom of Information Requests, ensuring that responses are fit for purpose and ensuring that all statutory timelines are met
  • Help to ensure that centrally held data is robust and fit for purpose
  • Data analysis to help senior managers manage continuous improvement through scrutiny of performance data, identifying potential performance challenges and related causes

Skills and experience

  • Five GCSEs and/or A levels; a Level 3 Apprenticeship; other relevant qualifications and experience; or an aptitude test with a focus on functional maths
  • Good IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is desirable
  • Good organisational skills
  • Excellent team work skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good time management skills
  • The ability to work accurately and adhere to strict deadlines
  • Keen to learn
  • Good communication skills
  • Good understanding of good customer service
  • You will also need to show your interest in local government and the delivery of public services
