Summary

We are a charity nursery based in Queens Park and has been operating for over 20 years. We are looking for a someone to join the Early Years Educators team under the supervision of a room leader.

The role and responsibilities

Day to day responsibilities

  • To observe and record what children do: to assess the children’s progress and to assist in planning the next steps in the children’s learning.
  • To provide a stimulating range and balance of activities which help children make progress in all areas of their development
  • To ensure children are involved in a broad range of activities which support their language, mathematical thinking, imagination and creative learning.
  • To ensure children make decisions, explore and investigate and relate to others.
  • To ensure children are involved interested and enjoy their play.
  • To show an active interest in what the children say and do by talking to and listening to them; by asking questions to make them think; by responding to their interests; and by praising and encouraging them
  • To work in partnership with parents to provide a positive learning environment for all children regardless of race, culture, religion or background.

Key worker responsibilities

  • Specific responsibility for a group of approximately 6-8 children
  • Observing, assessing and keeping written observations of each child’s progress
  • Organise and liaise with parents to provide a smooth transition from home/settling in.

  • Liaise with parents regarding progress and development.
  • Liaise with parents regarding any behavioural, special needs or toilet training issues [any others] in accordance with the respective policies.
  • To attend parents evenings to discuss their key children’s progress.
  • To set up action plans and Individual Education plans as appropriate in conjunction with other members of the Nursery team and other professionals as appropriate.

Skills and Experience

  • Qualified/NVQ Level 2/3
  • Understanding of the EYFS
