Summary

The Finance Apprentice will be supporting the Payroll Service is ensuring that all employees and Pensioners are paid accurately and on time. It involves administering the system for new starters, leavers, and all other changes to employees pay. This is an office based role where they will work and gain competency on Microsoft Office applications as well as the Oracle Payroll system. It is also a customer focussed position with the apprentice supporting the team in responding and resolving client queries.

  • You will gain hands-on experience of working in a Finance environment within Local Government, by working as part of a team and assisting in the delivery of a quality service within the council.
  • Simultaneously undertaking a comprehensive study programme towards the Level 3 in the Finance Services Administrator Apprenticeship.  You will gain valuable knowledge and skills which will be an asset to the council and your career.  Skills and experience

  • Five GCSEs including Maths & English grade C or above other relevant qualifications and experience; or an aptitude test with a focus on functional maths.
  • Good IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is desirable.
  • The successful candidate will need good organisational skills, attention to detail, as well as good time management skills.
  • Keen to learn, you will demonstrate good communication skills, and understanding of good customer service.  
  • You will need to show your interest in local government and the delivery of public services.
  • We will also be looking for a flexible and positive approach to work.
