Summary

A sustainable fit out company who are disrupting the office furniture industry by creating wonderful offices at 80% less environmental impact and half the cost of furnishings made from virgin resources, are looking for a Handyman/Fitter with a passion for sustainability, high safety and quality standards who will become a key contributor to the successful completion of each office refit project. Your principal duty will be refurbishing high quality used furniture to as-new condition.We are looking for an experienced Handyman/Fitter to join our rapidly growing business, with proven experience in:

  • Re-manufacturing and preparing office furniture, including repairing and renovating pedestals, chairs and cabinets Installing furniture at client premises
  • Maintaining the upkeep and tidiness of the workshop/warehouse

The role is labour intensive, including loading and unloading trucks/vans, although our processes use lifting aids including an electric pedestrian pallet stacker. You will need to be comfortable lifting up to 15 kg repeatedly. To be chosen for this role, you will be reliable and hardworking, with a flexible can-do attitude. And share our interest in recycling and reducing waste.

They design wonderful offices which incorporate re-manufactured office furniture, recycled building products, plants that clean toxins from the air, biophilia and a range of other sustainable features.

If you are an experienced Handyman/Fitter with proven experience in:

  • Refurbishing, repairing, cleaning and/or re-manufacturing office furniture
  • Furniture installation at client premises
  • Maintaining and keeping the workshop tidy and ordered; and you would like  to join a rapidly growing business this role could be the right one for you!

  • Be able to lift items up to 15kg, comfortably

  • Able to work varied hours, which may include occasional weekend work
  • Be well-presented and polite and considerate of others

Skills and experience

  • Experience and, ideally, trained in a related trade (e.g. carpentry, joining, fitting, furniture installation, plumbing, upholstering, painting)
  • Willing and able to learn to use specialised tools, equipment and techniques in line with our re-manufacturing techniques
  • Background in office furniture fitting
  • Previous experience with in furniture repair, cleaning or building trades
  • Be a safe driver in possession of a full UK Drivers’ Licence with limited penalty points
  • Experienced driving a Luton van or truck, to help with driving the van to client site for installations or picking up goods from other sites
  • Over 25 years of age for vehicle insurance purposes
