A sustainable fit out company who are disrupting the office furniture industry by creating wonderful offices at 80% less environmental impact and half the cost of furnishings made from virgin resources, are looking for a full-time permanent hands-on handyman, with good attention to detail to join their re-manufacturing and installation team.

You will work in their workshop/warehouse and at client sites, the role will be based at the office premises in Park Royal with occasional days spent working at clients’ offices installing furniture. This role is extremely labour intensive which includes loading and unloading trucks/vans, although their processes use lifting aids including an electric pedestrian pallet stacker.

You will need to be comfortable lifting up to 15 kg repeatedly and have a high level of physical fitness.You will enjoy DIY, be good at making and fixing things, have a reputation for doing things properly, and be able to work independently.

The role and responsibilities

  • Resizing furniture, including cutting and finishing desk and table frames
  • Re-manufacturing office furniture, including repairing and renovating pedestals, chairs and cabinets
  • Basic upholstering of modern office furniture
  • Collecting and delivering furniture
  • Furniture installation at client premises
  • Managing inventory including; storing inventory in accordance to our warehouse methodology, preparing orders for delivery, including palletising, record management of all inventory using Microsoft Excel, using a pallet stacker to store and relocate inventory
  • Assisting, passing on skills to, and occasionally supervising more junior team members

Skills and experience

  • Experience using power tools unassisted and a willingness to learn to use specialised tools, equipment and techniques in line with our re-manufacturing techniques

  • Good level of IT skills including Word and Excel Experience and, ideally, training in a related trade (e.g. carpentry, joining, fitting, furniture installation, plumbing, upholstering, painting)
  • Willingness to learn to use specialised tools, equipment and techniques in line with our re-manufacturing techniques
  • Flexibility with working hours as these will be dependent on the business needs, as well as a can-do-attitude

Short-listed candidates will be asked to demonstrate proficiency in:

  • Cutting and fitting (e.g. resizing desks)
  • Using Excel
  • Warehouse inventory methodology
