Delivering new affordable homes
There is shortage of genuinely affordable homes in London, including Brent. To tackle this, we have kick-started building new council homes. We have also invested in our relationships with housing providers so we can see more new affordable housing than ever before that meets our residents’ needs.
Our aim is to see 1,000 new affordable homes being built here in Brent, every year for the next five years.
We want 70% of these homes to be for affordable rent and 30% for affordable home ownership.

To deliver this target, we have set up a specialist service team, ‘Housing Supply and Partnerships’. The key responsibilities of this team include:
- Delivering new council homes
- Creating and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners
- Providing a consultancy function to the whole housing service
- Reviewing and writing relevant strategies and policies
