About the planning records

Details of planning applications dating from 1990 (older in some cases) can be accessed. Supporting documents are available online for planning applications decided after May 2002.

If you need to review the full site history, including applications prior to 1990, then you should use our land charges search service.

About the building control records

You can also search for building control records and view the current status of applications although related documents and plans are not available for public viewing.

Summary details of building regulation records are available for applications received since 1990. These include applications and notifications submitted for approval of works under building regulations and works by relevant competent persons schemes such as electrical works, boiler installations or replacement windows.

Copyright

Plans, drawings and material submitted to the council are protected by the copyright (section 47, 1988 act).

You may only use material which is downloaded and/or printed for consultation purposes , to compare current applications with previous schemes and to check whether developments have been completed in accordance with approved plans. Further copies must not be made without the prior permission of the copyright owner.

Access to historic records (pre 2000)

Most of our physical records are stored offsite so we are unable to provide a 'walk in' service.

To view historic applications prior arrangement will be required but we may be able to supply copies of documents such as decision notices and completion / regularisation certificates.

Email planandbuild@brent.gov.uk setting out details of which applications or property you require providing as much information as possible.

There is a charge for this service depending on requirements:

Retrieval of archived records: £15 per record

  • Copy of decision notice: £20 per notice
  • Copy of completion / regularisation certificate: £40
  • Other enquiry relating to application: £50 per enquiry

Please note more than one of the above charges may apply.

Copies of historical decision notices may also be ordered from us. Upon receipt of your request we will confirm the amount due.

Further information

The database displays details of valid planning and building control applications. Details of invalid applications will not be published.

For security reasons the system will time-out after 20 minutes. If you have lengthy comments, we recommend drafting them then copying and pasting the text into the comments section.

Search results are limited to a maximum of 100 results per page. If your search criteria is too vague, this will result in excessive number of cases and you may need to refine your search criteria.

The information contained in the public access system is a 'live' update.
