Dog control orders

We have dog control orders in several of our parks and open spaces to improve the environment for all users and encourage responsible dog ownership.

The control orders

The order states the following:

  • the number of dogs one person can take into the open space
  • the areas where dogs are not allowed
  • the areas where dogs must be kept on leads.

The control orders limit the number of dogs one person can exercised together to four.

Dogs will not be permitted in any of the following areas unless they are helping a registered blind, deaf or disabled person:

  • a playground
  • tennis court
  • netball court
  • bowling green
  • multi-use games.

In all pocket parks and some areas such as walled gardens and cricket wickets, dogs can be exercised but their owners must keep them on a lead.

The control orders also apply to Queen's Park, which is managed by the Corporation of London. Download the list of locations where dogs are to be kept on a lead
