Information for community groups and volunteer networks

We have an incredible network of volunteer organisations and groups in Brent, and their understanding of our communities will be invaluable as we try to help as many people as possible through this period of uncertainty.

To make sure that voluntary efforts are as joined-up as possible during this difficult time, we are working with seven lead partners (forming a Steering Group) to coordinate Brent’s voluntary response.

Based on our collective knowledge of the communities and challenges we have in our borough, we have decided to focus our efforts on seven themes, with a lead partner organisation assigned to each.

  • Disabled people (Brent Mencap)
  • Young people (Young Brent Foundation)
  • Older people (Age UK and Elders Voice)
  • Homeless people (Crisis)
  • People who use foodbanks (Sufra)
  • People with specific cultural needs (Step Up Hub)
  • People who need extra advice and support (Brent Citizens Advice Bureau)

We know that there are lots of organisations and groups in Brent that are keen to help, and we appreciate the work they are doing. The approach we have taken in setting up this Steering Group is intended to make sure we can act quickly as quickly as possible to get help to the people who need it most.

To join this coordinated response, we are asking voluntary organisations, community groups and volunteer networks to email info@cvsbrent.org.uk.

The Council for Voluntary Services has also developed downloadable guidelines for volunteer networks to help keep volunteers and the people they are helping safe.
