Brent call for sites

Are there any sites in your local area which are vacant, rundown or underused? Through redevelopment could they make a more positive contribution to Brent?

To assist the development of the Local Plan we are carrying out a 'call for sites' exercise to identify sites within the borough that may have potential for development over the plan period. The 'call for sites' is an early opportunity for individuals and organisations to suggest sites within the borough for development. This could be development for uses such as:

  • Housing
  • Employment
  • Retail
  • Leisure/Sport/Recreation/Open Space
  • Community uses including education/potential schools
  • Art/cultural uses
  • Mixed use development
  • Strategic Infrastructure

What is the Local Plan?

This is the Council’s planning strategy which will shape how the borough is developed to 2035. It is a key document in seeking to achieve many of the Council’s priorities to improve the quality of life of Brent’s residents and promote economic growth. It will identify how we will meet the borough’s need for housing, jobs and community facilities. The call for sites is just the start of its development.

How to put forward a site

You can submit sites online. Please include as much information as you can, however, don’t worry if you’re not sure of the site constraints. We will consider this when we review the site.

Alternatively, pick up a paper response form from your local library and send it back to us via the freepost address provided on the form, or email your suggestions to the Planning Policy Team at

The deadline for submitting sites is 6th April 2017.

Please note the site assessment will be published as part of the Local Plan evidence base. Therefore please make clear any information which is commercially sensitive/ confidential so it can be excluded from any publications.

Next steps

Sites put forward will be assessed for inclusion in the draft Local Plan.

The call for sites is just one aspect of the Local Plan. Over 2017 and 2018 there will be further opportunities to inform its development. If you would like to get involved please send your contact details to

If you have any questions please contact the Planning Policy and Projects Team at the email address above or by calling 020 8937 5230.
