Carlton and Granville redevelopment

Phase 1 and 2 have both been overseen by a Project Board, consisting of Brent Council, the Greater London Authority, South Kilburn Trust and other key stakeholders from the site.

Phase 1

Phase 1 created a new Enterprise Hub and Community Space in the Granville Centre.

Works were completed in April 2018, and the Hub officially opened in May 2018. The hub is a popular local attraction. Find out more about the Enterprise Hub at the Granville

Within Phase 1, Brent Council entered into a lease agreement with the South Kilburn Trust to monitor, manage, and maintain the building going forward.

Phase 2

Phase 2 works are currently being led by Brent Council in consultation with local key stakeholders via the Key Stakeholders Group.

Adam Khan Architects were appointed in 2017 to lead the design team. The objective throughout has been to maintain, secure and improve spaces for the key partners currently on site. The focus has been on upholding community space, and improving opportunities for local people.

The designs of the building ensure the site is fit for purpose for the future, as well as maintaining the sites unique local heritage and architectural elements.

Going forward, the site will continue to host community space, the Enterprise hub as well as a children’s centre/family hub, and the Granville Plus Nursery School.

The established users of The Granville (South Kilburn Trust), Granville Plus Nursery School and Granville Children’s Centre will be worked around in terms of building work and we will ensure their services continue throughout the build.

Further to this, the site will contain 18 housing units, all of which will be council housing. Plans have been shared with the key stakeholders, as well as at numerous public consultations and drop-ins.

The project is currently at the pre-planning stage, with submission into planning expected in late spring/early summer 2019. Updates will be sent to key partners when the submission has been made.

The site has also been shortlisted for three prizes at the prestigious New London Architecture Awards.
