The two masterplans developed with you - for infill development and redevelopment - will be put to a public vote, where you will be able to vote yes or no for redevelopment. This vote is currently planned to take place in autumn 2020 but this date might change if we need more time to work with you on the development of the masterplans.
All eligible residents would receive a formal Landlord Offer from the council explaining what they would gain from redevelopment option. If the majority of residents vote ‘yes’ for the redevelopment option, then this is the option that will be taken forward. If the majority of residents vote ‘no’ for the redevelopment option, then Brent Council will take forward the infill development option.
Who could vote?
The guidelines on who can vote are set by the Greater London Authority. The GLA’s rules mean ballots must be open to all residents on an existing social housing estate – not just those currently occupying homes that are due to be demolished.
You can vote if you have lived in the area included as part of any redevelopment plan for at least 12 months and are one of the following:
- An existing lead council tenant, or household in temporary accommodation
- A resident leaseholder
- Aged 16 or over and have also been on the housing waiting list for at least 12 months.
