If you are making a new claim, click on ‘apply for Housing Benefit’ to start your application form. Do not use the option ‘Register Account’ until you receive your notification letter or email confirming your entitlement.
Do you own a property and want to make a claim for Council Tax Support?
This will be classed as making a new claim. Do not use the option ‘Register Account’ until you receive your notification letter or email confirming your entitlement.
Are you reporting a change of address from Brent to Brent?
Do not make a New Claim as this will be a Change of Circumstance. You will also need to register your account using your old address.
Are you helping someone to create My Account?
You must create the account using the main claimant’s name even if you are a partner, friend, support worker, non-dependant etc.
Are you having problems registering your My Account?
Make sure your name(s) are exactly as per the account you created with and also check your national insurance number, date of birth and address. If you are using your new address, you will still need to register your account using your old address. If you are still having problems, Chat with us and we will look into the matter.
Cannot find your Housing Benefit reference number?
Check the email or notification letter we sent you. If your reference starts with 'two', it will end with a number and it will be a seven digit number.
If your reference starts 'zero', it will either end with a number or a letter and it will be eight characters in total.

Are you trying to report a change and unable to click on the option as it is greyed out?
If you have not registered your Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support account, you will not be able to report any changes to your benefit claim. Please click on 'Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support' link and choose 'Register Account'.
