If you're finding it hard to move around your home or manage daily tasks like washing, dressing or preparing meals, our Occupational Therapy service may be able to help.
If you've had a care needs assessment and are found to be eligible, one of our Occupational Therapists will reach out to you. They might come to your home to see how you live and figure out what changes can help you the most.
They will work with you to:
- understand what you’re finding difficult
- suggest practical solutions to make life easier
- recommend helpful equipment or home adaptations
- connect you with other support services.
Support we can offer
Depending on your needs, we may recommend:
- equipment to help you with daily tasks, like raised toilet seats, grab rails or shower chairs
- specialist seating or tools that support posture or feeding
- minor or major adaptations to your home, like a level-access shower, installing a ramp into or out of your home or widening doorways
- community services, groups or local support that can help.
Free equipment on loan
Most equipment recommended by our Adult Social Care teams is loaned to you for free through the Community Equipment Service. We’ll tell you more about how this works during your assessment.
Equipment repairs and returns
If any of the equipment we loan you breaks or stops working, contact our partner, NRS:
- Call: 0300 100 0253
- Email: enquiries@london.nrsuk.net
For urgent repairs out of hours, call the same number. (Note: Some items may not be covered for emergency repair.)
If you no longer need the equipment, we can collect and reuse it. Just call NRS to arrange this. Reusing equipment can help others and reduces waste.
