The Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) is funded by the UK Government and provides funding to local authorities in England to support households experiencing financial hardship.
Brent Council has been allocated approximately £7.8 million through the Crisis and Resilience Fund for 2026/27 to support residents experiencing financial hardship. This includes £1.62 million specifically allocated to Housing Payments, which provide financial assistance towards housing-related costs for eligible residents.
The fund helps councils provide financial assistance to residents facing immediate financial difficulties, while also supporting longer-term financial resilience within local communities.
Brent Council delivers support through two schemes:
- Housing Payment – financial assistance towards housing-related costs for eligible residents
- Resident Support Fund (Crisis Payment) – financial assistance for residents experiencing an immediate financial crisis and needing help with essential living costs.
Housing Payment
Housing Payments provide financial assistance towards housing-related costs for eligible Brent residents who are unable to meet these costs.
Housing Payments may help residents who require additional financial support with:
- rent in advance
- rent arrears
- rent deposits
- other eligible housing-related costs, depending on individual circumstances.
To be eligible you must normally:
- live in the London Borough of Brent
- receive Housing Benefit or the Housing Element of Universal Credit
- be liable for housing costs
- demonstrate financial hardship.
Applications are assessed individually and awards are discretionary.
