You will need to re-register your child’s birth if:
- the natural father’s details weren’t entered at the time of the original birth registration
- the natural parents have married or joined in civil partnership after the child’s birth.

To apply for a re-registration, both parents should complete the relevant form(s) below and send to the Brent Register Office.
Once the forms have been completed by both parents, you will need to call the Brent Register office to book an appointment to re-register your child’s birth.
If your marriage or civil partnership has taken place abroad, this process will take longer (on average 6 - 8 weeks) as we need to send your application to the General Register Office (GRO) for approval. In this case we will contact you to make an appointment.
Please note, certificate(s) should be pre-ordered when you are booking your appointment to register a birth. The certificate(s) will be given to you at the time of the appointment.
