The Brent energy efficiency grant for buildings is a grant fund designed to help local organisations and businesses make sustainable improvements to their premises, supporting Brent’s ambition to become a carbon neutral borough by 2030. Grants of up to £9,000 are available to implement recommendations from energy efficiency audits.
Who can apply?
Applicants must be based in Brent and be one of the following:
- micro-business
- small or medium-sized enterprise (SME)
- community group
- place of worship
- other local organisation
Assessment Criteria
Your application will be assessed against the following criteria:
- support Brent’s climate and ecological emergency strategy by reducing carbon emissions from buildings
- offers a measurable improvement in energy efficiency and reduction in running costs
- involves or benefits the wider community where possible
- is clearly deliverable and will leave a lasting positive environmental impact
What can you get funding for?
Grants are available for one-off improvements to your premises, based on recommendations from your energy efficiency audit. Projects must have a clear beginning and end, and applicants should consider how the improvements will be maintained and managed after completion.
Examples of eligible improvements include (but are not limited to):
- insulation upgrades
- installation of energy-efficient lighting
- solar panels or renewable energy systems
- heating system improvements
- energy monitoring systems
- other energy-saving measures recommended in your audit

- Apply by completing the application form on the Groundwork London website.
We also recommend that you complete your energy efficiency audit before submitting your application before 22 August 2025.
Please note:
- funding is awarded on a first come, first served basis.
- all funds must be spent by 31 March 2026.
