In 2017 a contribution of £17.8m Strategic Community Infrastructure Levy was allocated to public realm improvements along Olympic Way. The Olympic Way Improvements project is a joint project between Brent Council, Quintain and Wembley Stadium.
The Olympic Way Improvement works were split into Zone A, B and C. Zone A and B works are substantially complete and include:
- new paving
- new lighting columns
- level changes
- tree planting
- drainage and utilities works
- the demolition of the former Olympic Way toilet block.
Zone C works were completed August 2021. The former pedway was demolished and has been replaced with the new Olympic Steps. This is in line with the Wembley Area Action Plan and the ambition shared by Brent Council, Quintain and supported by Wembley Stadium.
The Olympic Way Improvements have significantly enhanced Olympic Way to reflect its importance as an arrival point for millions of visitors and its place making role for new residents, students and businesses within the Wembley Park Regeneration.
