Who we are
Brent SENDIASS provides information and advice to professionals supporting children, young people, and families with SEND. This includes staff in education, health, and social care.
How we can help
We provide guidance on:
- legislation, statutory regulations and guidance
- local policies and processes or procedures
- school duties relating to SEND support in mainstream schools
- school duties relating to equality and disability
- education, health and care (EHC) needs assessments and plans
- mediation and SEND tribunals (appeals)
- resolving disagreements and complaints procedures
- preparing for educational transitions
We also signpost to relevant local and national services, offer drop-in clinics, and provide training opportunities.
Drop-in clinics
We run drop-in clinics at locations across the borough. If you or your organisation would like to host a drop-in session, or if you have training needs related to our work, email sendias@brent.gov.uk. We welcome opportunities to work with partners and provide support
How to contact us
We welcome referrals from schools, settings and other agencies on behalf of parents, carers and young people, as long as you have their consent for us to contact them.
If you need general, anonymised advice about a child, you can call or email us. Please ensure you have the parent’s or carer’s permission and do not share any identifying information.
If you are supporting the parent or carer of a child with SEND, or a young person with SEND, and they would like direct support from our service, you can assist them in completing our online contact form.
