Reusable nappy voucher scheme

We’ve partnered with Real Nappies for London to help support Brent families with a £50 reusable nappy voucher.

You can apply for a voucher to help cover the cost of reusable nappies or a trial paid-for laundry service if you:

• live in Brent
• are expecting a baby
• have a child under 18 months, or a child under 5 with a disability that requires nappies.

How to apply

Applying is quick and easy. Go to the Real Nappies for London application page and fill in the form with your details and supporting documents.

Once your application is approved, your £50 voucher will be emailed to you, usually within two working days. If you request a postal voucher, it may take up to 10 days. Vouchers are issued per child, not per household.

Even part-time use of reusable nappies can make a big difference. By making the switch, you can:

• cut down on household waste
• save around £772 over two and a half years
• help protect the environment by reducing single-use nappies, which are packed with plastic and often end up in landfill or incineration

Stop the nappy monsters

Disposable nappies are one of the most common contaminants found in Brent’s blue-lidded recycling bins. When they’re put in the wrong bin, they spoil otherwise good recycling, which then has to be incinerated rather than recycled. Last year, contamination in recycling bins cost Brent taxpayers over £500,000.

Making sure you only put disposable nappies into the refuse bin, or better still, switching to reusable nappies, will help to stop any nappy monsters from lurking in your recycling bin.
