School places are offered based on each school's admissions criteria. The criteria can include catchment area, whether a child has brothers or sisters already at the school or the distance between school and home.
When it is not possible to offer any of the schools listed on the application a place is normally offered at the nearest school to the family’s home that has vacancies remaining after everyone who applied on-time has been offered.
