Join us for an inspiring evening of celebration, reflection, and unity at the Grand Hall, Brent Civic Centre, as we honour Black History Month through music, dance, theatre, and thought-provoking conversation.
Phoenix Rising will set the tone with the uplifting sounds of steel pan, welcoming guests into a vibrant atmosphere of culture and pride.
The evening will be hosted by TV presenter Aaron Bridgeman, with a special welcome from Councillor Mili Patel, Deputy Leader of Brent Council. We’ll then hear the powerful origin story of Black History Month UK, shared by its founder Akyaaba Addai-Sebo in conversation with broadcaster Rosemary Laryea.
Performances include:
- a musical journey through the evolution of Black music by Darae Palmer
- a dynamic dance showcase from Hillside Performing Arts
- a compelling theatre piece on Malcolm X, curated by cultural producer Rachel Victor-Sampson.
At the heart of the evening, a panel discussion on the theme of “Power” will feature influential voices including Dawn Butler MP, entrepreneur and community leader Anita Whittaker, and local educators and leaders.
The evening will close with reflections from our host, leaving space for connection, celebration, and pride. Don’t miss this uplifting celebration of heritage, culture, and collective strength. Everyone is welcome!
Free food will be available for all guests. You are welcome to attend without registering, though advance registration is encouraged to help us plan effectively.
