Join the Kilburn Grammar School Old Boys’ Association for a dignified and commemorative Remembrance Day service to mark the rededication of the Kilburn Grammar School War Memorial. This special occasion will honour the memory of former pupils who made the ultimate sacrifice during the First and Second World Wars.
This event provides an opportunity for members of the community, former students, families, and local residents to come together in remembrance, reflection, and gratitude, ensuring that the contributions and sacrifices of those remembered on the memorial are not forgotten.
The Kilburn Grammar School War Memorial Clock holds significant historical, cultural, and community value within Kilburn Library. Originally commissioned in 1919 by the Old Boys’ Association to commemorate former pupils who lost their lives in WWI, the memorial clock, together with the accompanying memorial plaques and WWII commemorative panels, provides a lasting tribute to those who served and sacrificed during both world wars.
As direct living memory of these conflicts fades, the memorial serves as an important tangible link to the past, helping present and future generations in Brent connect with local history. Located in a public library at the heart of the community, it also acts as a valuable historical record of former residents and pupils of Kilburn Grammar School, preserving their stories and ensuring their contribution and sacrifice continue to be remembered for generations to come.
Light refreshments provided.
