Where can I view your vacancies?
Most Brent Council jobs are advertised on our jobs portal, including many school-based roles in Brent.

What is Brent Works?
Brent Works is a free service for local people, offering access to jobs and apprenticeships across a range of sectors, including construction, hospitality, cafés and cultural venues.
The team can support you by:
- Offering one-to-one advice and guidance
- Connecting you to jobs and apprenticeships in Brent and across London
- Helping you access training to build your skills and prepare for work
Can I sign up for job alerts?
Our recruitment platform does not currently offer job alerts.
We recommend checking our careers site regularly. You can also follow us on LinkedIn for updates.
Where can I view the vacancies if I do not have internet access?
You may be able to access the internet by:
- using a friend or family member’s computer
- visiting your local library, where internet access is free for library members
- visiting your local Jobcentre
How do I apply?
Applications must be made online using an email address.
Once you submit your application, you will be sent a verification code.

Can I apply for more than one job at a time?
Yes. You will need to complete a separate application for each role.
Your personal details may carry across automatically, but you will still need to complete the screening questions and Diversity and Equality information for each application.
Do you accept CVs?
For most roles, we ask for a completed application form and supporting statement.
Some roles may also ask for a CV, so please read the job advert carefully before applying.
How do I write a supporting statement?
Your supporting statement should show how your skills and experience meet the job requirements.
A strong supporting statement should:
- follow the essential requirements
- use clear examples
- keep your answers relevant and easy to understand
- explain transferable skills and willingness to learn if you do not meet every requirement
Can I edit my application after I submit it?
You will not be able to make changes once your application has been submitted online.

Can I withdraw my application?
Yes. If you no longer wish to be considered for a role, please contact the Recruitment Team.
I cannot find a vacancy on your website. Why is this?
If the closing date has passed, the vacancy will no longer appear on the website.
I have forgotten my password. What should I do?
You do not need a password to apply.
When you submit an application, you will receive a verification code by email. This creates a profile linked to your email address. You will use a verification code again for future applications.

What should I do if I have technical problems when applying?
If you experience any technical issues while completing your application, please contact the Recruitment Team as soon as possible.
How will I know if you have received my application?
You will receive an automatic email confirming that your application has been received.
Please check your junk or spam folder before contacting us.
What happens after I apply?
Applications are reviewed after the closing date.
If you are shortlisted, we will contact you with details of the next stage. If you do not hear from us within four weeks of the closing date, you should assume that you have not been successful on this occasion.
As we receive high volume of applications, we will not be able to provide feedback at the shortlisting stage.
Can I request reasonable adjustments?
Yes. As a Disability Confident employer, Brent welcomes applications from people with all disabilities, including non-visible and mental health conditions.
We will interview any disabled applicant who meets the essential criteria for the role.

I have been invited to an assessment centre. What does this involve?
We will send you full details before the assessment takes place.

How much notice will I be given for a test or interview?
We aim to give at least seven days’ notice where possible, although this can vary depending on the recruitment schedule.
Will I be told whether my interview in online or in person?
Yes. Your invitation will include full details of the interview format.
Can I claim expenses for attending an interview or assessment?
No. We do not reimburse travel or other expenses for attending interviews or assessments.
Can I get feedback after my interview?
Yes. If you attend an interview, feedback will be provided by the Hiring Manager.
What checks will be carried out if I am offered a job?
Pre-employment checks vary depending on the role. For most jobs, checks may include:
- references
- a medical assessment
- a Cifas check
- a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, where required
- qualification checks
- proof of your right to work in the UK
Brent is committed to safer recruitment and safeguarding. Roles working with children, young people and vulnerable adults may be subject to an Enhanced DBS check as well as other employment clearances.

Do I need to disclose a criminal record?
This depends on the role and whether it is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
The job description will explain what is required. Some roles, particularly those involving work with children, young people or vulnerable adults, may require disclosure of convictions that would otherwise be considered spent.
Do you offer via sponsorship?
Visa sponsorship is not available for all roles. If sponsorship is available, this will usually be stated in the job advert. Please read the advert carefully before applying.
Can I apply for apprenticeships and graduate roles through the main jobs page?
No.
