Success stories

Success stories

Brent Start, representing a world of diversity and learning under one roof, continues to deliver the best teaching and learning experiences for its learners across an expansive range of learning opportunities, unequalled in any other London Borough.

We would like to thank all our learners for the dedication they have shown towards their own personal learning journey this past academic year.

Find some of our success stories below.

Early Years student

"My name is Neelam Batool and I love working in the Early Years sector. Having arrived from Pakistan with teaching experience and to further develop my skills and knowledge in the UK I decided to enrol at Brent Start in September 2019.

I started the Childcare level 1 course and as we went into the first lockdown we switched to online learning. I successfully passed my Level 1 and progressed to Level 2 Diploma Early Years Practitioner online including Functional Skills in English and was able to secure a work placement at a local nursery after the third lockdown was lifted. I have improved my confidence, knowledge and skills. It proved that you can learn new skills whenever you want and there is no age limit.

Brent Start Early Years team have given not just me but my other colleagues a lot of support during the pandemic, from learning online, to providing some of us with Chromebooks through their loan and learn scheme which helped me tremendously to continue with my studying. The teachers are very skilful and co-operative, their style of teaching and presenting lessons are amazing and well explained. They further supported our learning by arranging webinars with CACHE and experienced childcare key workers and SENCOs. It was very educational to listen to their experiences and talk to them. I also had the opportunity to give an interview to Brent Council team around the digital support I had received as a Brent resident which was a very exciting experience for me.

Overall it has been a wonderful experience to study at Brent Start through which I have improved my learning, skills and confidence and I plan to continue my studies with them in September 2021."

Maths student

"This is a great course; it helped me to understand more about thinking skills. I have learned the mathematical language, logic, and number theory, which helped me recall my mathematical memory.

The course tutor is outstanding, and she does an excellent job of helping us develop our ability to think in mathematical and logical ways. I have achieved basic maths knowledge through this course. I hope this course will take me to the next level. I intend to pursue a good carrier in future after finishing all of the levels. Our teacher taught us over Zoom, an easy and convenient way to study in our comfort zone. Big thank you to Kingsbury Green primary school to help me to join this course.

I can say in few words about this course Quality education with recognised qualification."

Community Partners

"Brent Start have had a massive impact on our participants since we started our Yoga and Floristry classes at the centre. The Programme Manager was ever so engaging and friendly and made sure that we were set up and helped us access the right service for our user groups. Tutors are always punctual and understanding to the groups’ needs. I would recommend Brent Start to anyone, as they are a fantastic source of information and learning within the borough."
