Established in 1977, Windermere Nursery is a family run nursery in the heart of the community.
We are open during term time, offering a range of sessions for children aged 2-5.
Job details
- Provide a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for children aged 2-5
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
- Support children’s learning, development, and social skills through play-based activities
- Observe, assess, and record children’s progress, maintaining accurate developmental records
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, and carers
- Lead daily routines, including meals, toileting, and transitions
- Ensure high standards of hygiene, health, and safety are maintained at all times
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children, following nursery policies and procedures
- Lead a small team, contributing to a supportive and collaborative environment
- Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s day and development
- Set up and tidy away activities and resources throughout the day
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development
- Support inclusive practice, ensuring all children feel valued and supported
- Lead on identifying and supporting children with additional needs, working in line with the SEND Code of Practice
- Liaise with parents, external professionals (e.g., speech and language therapists), and staff to develop and implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs)
The person
Essential:
- Level 3 qualification as minimum in Early Years Education (or equivalent)
- Good knowledge of the EYFS framework
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Experience working with young children in a nursery or early years setting
- Knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and inclusive practice
- Ability to observe, assess, and support children’s individual development
- Strong communication skills with both children and adults
- Ability to build positive relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues
- Patient, caring, and nurturing approach
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively
- Ability to lead a small team
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
Desirable:
- SENCO experience or relevant SEND training (or willing to gain qualification in this area)
- Experience working with children with additional needs
- Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
- Experience liaising with external professionals (e.g., health visitors, therapists)
- First Aid qualification
- Strong written skills for reports, observations, and support plans
- Willingness to undertake further training and professional development
