Donations to the Brent Museum and Archives
We want to ensure that the museum and archive collections are representative of all residents of the borough, we are always keen to collect items from any of Brent's diverse communities, as well as from local organisations and businesses.
If you have:
An object or objects and or paper records or documents, sound or video recordings or photographs, which relate to the history of the local area or the lives of its residents, please contact Brent Museum and Archives.
To ensure that the collections cover all periods in the history of the borough, we are also particularly interested in accepting photographs of residents and life in the borough from the 1950s-1980s.
Please do not bring items in without an appointment, as we cannot always accept them over the desk. Please call or email in advance to discuss your donation and arrange a time to come in. We will make a decision on whether to accept your offer based on existing collections, our collecting priorities, legislation and council policy.
If we are not able to accept an item, we may be able to put you in touch with someone who can.

Curating an exhibition
Brent Museum and Archives is committed to producing a lively and varied programme of temporary exhibitions on an annual basis within its spaces. >
The exhibition programme is intended to cover a broad range of subjects and allows for a combination of internally curated and externally acquired or curated displays. It includes exhibitions:
- focusing on the heritage and rich cultural diversity of the London Borough of Brent
- using the permanent collections held by Brent Museum and Brent Archives
- which are led by the community
- focusing on broader subjects of more general interest.
The programme for the main exhibition space is set over a year in advance.

Access policy
We are committed to making collections accessible and relevant to everyone, regardless of their background and in consideration of their needs. We aim to provide the widest possible access to the items in our collections in order to promote democratic access to public information and cultural heritage.
The joint access policy document provides details of how we do this.
