In this new series of work Simone Russell explores the potentiality of paint. Experimenting with a broad range of techniques, she is instinctively innovating as she creates. Responding to each new happening as she pours, sprays, and drenches Simone captures the mediums fluid sensibilities. Building the work in luminous layers until completion.
Influenced by her surroundings and her response to them, themes include: light, colour and sound. Each painting commences with a concept but evolves spontaneously. Simone is in an active dialogue with her painting, the medium is a tool to explore, know and communicate through. This responsiveness has yielded a series of paintings that are striking in mood and an evocation of the moment in which they were created.
