The war in Ukraine caused great pain to millions of Ukrainians. They were forced to leave their homes, to abandon their usual lives and plans. Many of them are now defending their country on the battlefields. In the battles and in the rear, Ukrainians show their courage and unbreakable will for victory, in each of their professional fields.
Some of our exhibiting artists are among those who are fighting for Ukrainian freedom at the frontline. Despite today's difficult conditions, the cultural life of the country continues to develop. Works of art become an inspiration for gaining independence, a tool for helping those in need.
Some of the paintings exhibited here have come a long way. The artists had to escape the war and move to safer places, some of them did not even know for a long time whether their work survived. These paintings were taken away in parts under the whistling of bullets and bombs and travelling all the way from Ukraine to the UK. They survived to get to London audiences, which we hope will appreciate Ukrainian art.
Voznytskyi Charitable Foundation feels it is very important to introduce Ukrainian artists to art connoisseurs in Europe and the wider world. The paintings and sculptures in this exhibition prove the fact that Ukraine is, was and always will be an artistic country and that Ukrainian artists are worthy of a place in the world of art.
This exhibition showcases the richness and colour of Ukrainian art. Each artist represents their own unique personal style. Today, as never before, art has become a real force.
