Celebrating Diversity Fund 2026
The Love Where You Live (LWYL) Celebrating Diversity Fund provides funding for events that celebrate the vast range of background, cultures and identities in the borough and foster a sense of belonging amongst Brent communities.
Is there a cultural occasion that you want to mark or celebrate? Perhaps you want to share your background and identity or learn more about Brent’s various communities. If so, we are empowering and supporting you to organise events centred around community cohesion and inclusion.
The Love Where You Live grant will be available to Brent registered organisations, as well as Brent residents for grants of £1,000. Collaborative bids from two or more registered organisations can apply for up to £5,000 in funding. Your event will empower Brent communities to come together and celebrate diversity in 2026.
Who can apply?
- Brent registered organisations, groups or residents with proof of residence in Brent
- Registered charities or charitable incorporated organisations
- Charitable companies or social enterprises
- Community Interest Companies (CICs)
- Schools
- Brent residents (aged 16+). If under 18, a responsible adult must oversee the event and hold a valid DBS certificate.
- Only one application per organisation/resident is permitted.
Your project must align with more than one of the following nine protected characteristics captured within the Equality Act 2010 and other personal characteristics:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender reassignment
- Marriage and Civil Partnership
- Pregnancy and maternity
- Race and ethnicity
- Religion or belief
- Sex
- Sexual orientation
How much you can apply for:
Up to £1,000 – Sole resident or sole organisation
Up to £5,000 – A collaborative of two or more organisations
We reserve the right to offer part-funding to some events if the assessment panel feels it is in the best interest of the programme’s aims.
What cannot be funded:
- Alcohol
- Payment to members of the management committee
- A group’s on-going running costs
- Salary costs for any paid staff
- Retrospective costs incurred before you received a decision from us
- Political organisations or anything linked to a political party or organisation with primarily political objectives
- Individual or personal endeavours or gain

How your application will be assessed
Applications will be assessed on:
- How the application demonstrates it meets the LWYL Celebrating Diversity grant criteria
- How the application demonstrates that it aligns to the protected and other personal characteristics
- All the supporting paperwork and policies submitted are to the required standard and valid
- How well the application demonstrates value for money
- Supporting references
This grant is for events taking place March - December 2026. You will be notified of the outcome of your application within 12 weeks of the grant round closure. This will allow enough time for the application to be reviewed, and all necessary verification checks to be completed.
Monitoring
You will be required to monitor the success of your event details of which will be outlined as part of a funding agreement.
You will need to submit evidence and information about your event within four weeks of the project being completed, including (but not limited to):
- Photos/video showing the event taking place with appropriate permissions
- Receipts/Invoices as proof of project expenditure
- A record of how many people attended the event, including their feedback around the event
- A short narrative detailing the event outcomes, which may be put on the council website or other promotional material, with photos and/or video.
