All landlords renting out properties in Brent will soon be legally required to have a selective license, except in Wembley Park.
The government has approved the council’s proposal to introduce boroughwide property licensing, except for Wembley Park, with the aim of driving up living standards for renters and building on Brent’s positive relationships with private landlords.
The scheme is expected to go live in Spring 2024.
Councillor Promise Knight, Cabinet Member for Housing, Homelessness and Renters’ Security, said that the approval of the scheme is a major win for renters and landlords and the private housing sector as a whole.
