Over 2,000 new homes were given the green light in just one night, as Brent Council's Planning Committee approved redevelopments in Wembley and Neasden among other applications.

Under the plans, two College of North West London campuses will be redeveloped.

A scheme in Willesden will see the Dudden Hill campus transformed to deliver 1,627 new homes, shops, a gym and workspace, a community facility and nursery, as well as improvements to public green spaces on Dudden Hill Green and Selbie Avenue.

In Wembley, the Crescent House site will be redeveloped to provide a further 304 new homes, with 20% affordable homes across the two locations. Councillors on the Planning Committee continued to hold all applicants to account, to extract the maximum affordable homes across the sites.

These two developments will fund the delivery of a new college building in Fulton Road in Wembley, which was approved earlier this year.

“

Brent Council is proud to play its part in helping the government to achieve its target of 1.5m new homes across this Parliament.

Leader of Brent Council and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning and Growth

Councillor Muhammed Butt, Leader of Brent Council said: “We desperately need more homes for residents that are safe, secure and affordable to live in. In our borough alone, we have hundreds of families facing homelessness every week.

“I’m pleased that all four applications were granted approval by our Planning Committee, unlocking a new hotel, affordable workspaces and a state-of-the-college. Brent Council is proud to play its part in helping the government to achieve its target of 1.5m new homes across this Parliament."

Stephen Davis, Group Principal and CEO of the United Colleges Group, said: “I am delighted that we have reached another milestone in our new campus journey. With Brent Council’s latest decision, we are another step closer to delivering best in class facilities that will meet the skills needs for the area. Our new proposed site will deliver more education, training, and skills opportunities for our students and will provide the community with an important facility to work and learn.”
