With just weeks to go until this year’s Mayoral and London Assembly elections, residents are being reminded that they will need to bring photo ID with them if they are going to vote at a polling station.
The Mayoral and London Assembly elections will take place on Thursday 2 May, with polling stations open across the borough from 7am to 10pm.
For the first time, voters will need to show photo ID to vote at a polling station. There are a number of accepted forms of ID, including:
- Passport
- Driver’s license
- Multiple concessionary travel passes
- PASS card (Proof of Age Standards Scheme)
- Blue badge
- And many more

Voters will be able to use expired ID if they are still recognisable from the photo.
If voters do not have any of the above, or just want to be sure they are covered, they can apply for a free photo ID to vote which is known as a Voter Authority Certificate.
The deadline to apply for a free photo ID to vote for the May elections is 5pm on Wednesday 24 April.
