Kingsbury set for a more sustainable future with £280,000 Investing in Brent upgrade

A further wave of climate-positive improvements is set to arrive in Kingsbury as part of the borough-wide Investing in Brent programme. This project represents another milestone in Brent’s continued commitment to climate action, sustainable neighbourhoods and community-led transformation, and forms part of the council’s approach to tackling the Climate Emergency.

Following the initial investment from Transport for London to deliver improvements along Princes Avenue, an additional £280,000 has been secured through the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (NCIL) to continue to deliver the Kingsbury Green Corridors.

This will deliver a series of high-impact improvements in the neighbourhood that prioritise greener streets, safer active travel and greater community pride.

Key improvements coming to Kingsbury by Spring 2026 include:

  • New community-designed murals along Princess Avenue and Stag Lane, created through workshops with local schools and residents. Posters and QR codes around Kingsbury will invite people to help shape the design, ensuring the artwork reflects the area’s identity and aspirations.
  • Street greening and extensive tree planting delivering more attractive and climate-resilient streets. Community planting days will offer residents opportunities to take part and help bring new greenery to life.
  • Re-landscaping part of Roe Green Park adding colour, nature and safer walking environments.
  • New cycle and children’s scooter parking making it easier for residents to choose active travel for local journeys.
  • Improved wayfinding signage to help people navigate between parks, shops, transport links and community facilities.
  • An accessibility feasibility study focused on improving routes into and around local parks, particularly important active travel links, ensuring they are safe, inclusive and usable for all.

The Church End and the Kingsbury investment continues the council’s effort to make Brent’s neighbourhoods greener, healthier and better connected, while placing residents at the heart of design and decision-making.

“

This is also Brent’s biggest climate investment since declaring a climate and ecological emergency in 2019, with £3.2 million for projects focused on climate action alone.

”
Cllr Jake Rubin,
Cabinet Member for Climate Action and Community Power

Cllr Jake Rubin, Cabinet Member for Climate Action and Community Power, said: “Kingsbury will benefit from substantial climate investment which will bring more trees, better walking routes, beautiful art and greener public spaces, all shaped with the help of the community. It’s another powerful example of how Investing in Brent is delivering real, positive change across the borough.

“This is also Brent’s biggest climate investment since declaring a climate and
ecological emergency in 2019, with £3.2 million for projects focused on climate action alone."

Residents are encouraged to join upcoming mural workshops, greening events and planting days. Visit our Green Neighbourhoods page for the latest news, and ways to get involved.
