A shop in Dollis Hill, ACETEC LTD, and its director have been fined a whopping £5,216 after being caught selling a vape to underage individuals.

The company and its director pleaded guilty to the charges this month, resulting in a significant penalty.

“

This case shows that we're cracking down on businesses that sell age-restricted products such as vapes, without verifying the buyer's age

”
Cllr Krupa Sheth, Lead member for environment
Councillor Krupa Sheth,
Cabinet Member for Public Realm and Enforcement

Brent & Harrow Trading Standards regularly organise operations to make sure that local businesses comply with the law. These are often undercover operations involving young actors attempting to purchase age-restricted items, such as vapes, to test whether businesses are following legal requirements.

Councillor Krupa Sheth, Cabinet Member for Public Realm and Enforcement, said "This case shows that we're cracking down on businesses that sell age-restricted products such as vapes, without verifying the buyer's age. Well done to our trading standards team, who make sure local businesses are asking for ID and complying with the law."

Anyone who has concerns or information about illegal, or underage sales of age restricted goods should report it to Trading Standards via the Citizens Advice Consumer Service helpline on 0808 223 1133.
