Health pods that help Brent residents keep on top of their health without having to book GP appointments or seek other medical help are available now in three local community spaces.
Brent Health Matters – the programme to tackle health inequalities in the borough that is run jointly by Brent Council, local NHS services and the community – has become the first in the UK to link health pods in community settings to local GPs.
The pods are located in two libraries – Willesden Green and Harlesden – and in Chalkhill Community Centre. Easy to use and self-service, they allow residents to measure their heart rate, take blood pressure, calculate BMI and complete stress and anxiety questionnaires.
Councillor Neil Nerva, Brent’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Leisure, said, “It’s really great Brent is leading this groundbreaking initiative. Preventative action that helps catch health issues earlier, meaning better outcomes for patients and a more accessible NHS."
