Following a £1 million transformation, the library has been reimagined as a modern, inclusive, and vibrant community hub for the local area. The refurbishment blends contemporary design with the character of the library’s 130-year-old Victorian architecture, creating a welcoming environment for all. Visitors will enjoy a spacious single-floor layout, versatile areas for exhibitions, workshops, performances, and community programmes, as well as a fully refurbished community space, studio42, equipped with a screen and Wi-Fi.
The new library features a refreshed interior design with comfortable soft furnishings, additional study spaces and a dedicated digital zone, a bright and modern children’s area with interactive sensory elements, and an expanded, refreshed collection of books and resources.
To celebrate the reopening, the library is hosting a full day of activities for all ages:
