A counterfeit security licence has been seized during inspections of licensed premises in Brent as part of a national crackdown on criminality in the private security industry.
The fake licence was uncovered during joint enforcement visits by Brent Council's Licensing Authority and the Security Industry Authority (SIA) under Operation Conquest – a nationwide initiative targeting unlicensed and unlawful security operatives.
Officers visited licensed venues across the borough to check that door supervisors were displaying valid SIA licences and complying with the law. Most premises inspected were fully compliant, demonstrating the high standards maintained across Brent's licensed venues.
However, one security operative was found displaying a counterfeit SIA licence badge, which officers immediately seized. Using a fake licence is against the law, and the individual will be asked to attend an interview as part of the ongoing investigation.
Fake licences are often used to get around criminal record, immigration and suitability checks, allowing people who have not been properly checked to work in roles where they are responsible for public safety. Spotting these fake licences helps protect residents and visitors and keeps confidence in Brent’s licensed venues.
