A landlord has been ordered to pay more than £6,200 after being prosecuted for failing to licence two rental properties in Brent.
Mr McLoughlin appeared before the court following investigations by the council, which found both properties were being rented out without the required licences.
On 16 October 2025, council enforcement officers inspected the first property at Rainborough Close in Stonebridge and found it was being used as a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO), with at least six people from six separate households living there, despite not having the required mandatory licence.
The court found Mr McLoughlin guilty of this offence and ordered him to pay £3,556.
On 14 November 2025, officers inspected a second property on Rosemead Avenue in Wembley and found it required a selective licence but was being rented out without one.
Following the inspection, the council issued legal notices requiring Mr McLoughlin to provide information and documents about the property. He failed to respond within the required 14 days.
The court found him guilty of failing to licence the property and failing to comply with the legal notices. He was ordered to pay £2,674.
In total, Mr McLoughlin was ordered to pay £6,230 across both cases.
