Children, young people and families in Brent are benefiting from services that Ofsted has once again rated ‘Good’, recognising the positive progress being made for children, young people and their families across the borough.
Inspectors visited at the end of April and gave a ‘Good’ rating across all four judgement areas including leadership, help and protection, children in care and care leavers.
The report highlighted quick responses when safeguarding concerns are raised, strong relationships between social workers and families, effective partnership working, effective support for disabled children and young people and tenacious, relationship-based help for children at risk of exploitation.
Inspectors also found that many children in care benefit from stable foster placements and regular visits from social workers, while care leavers value the practical and emotional support provided by their personal advisers.
Ofsted also identified areas for improvement, including strengthening children in care’s understanding of their own life stories and the oversight of children who may require intervention from the Family Court. Brent's leaders have welcomed the findings and remain focused on continuous improvement.
