The Mayor of Brent Councillor Amer Agha is sporting his poppy to support the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal, and encourages other residents to do the same.

The Poppy Appeal runs until Remembrance Day, and money raised goes towards to the Royal British Legion's work in supporting active and former servicepeople from British and Commonwealth forces.

Poppies and donation tins can be found in Brent Civic Centre, and in businesses across the borough.

“

I am proud to support the RBL's Poppy Appeal, and to wear my poppy in to honour the bravery, sacrifice, and service of those who have served in British or Commonwealth forces, and particularly those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

Cllr Amer Agha,
Mayor of Brent

Cllr Amer Agha, Mayor of Brent, said: "I am proud to support the RBL's Poppy Appeal, and to wear my poppy in to honour the bravery, sacrifice, and service of those who have served in British or Commonwealth forces, and particularly those who gave their lives in the line of duty. Wearing a poppy is a small gesture, but by doing it together we ensure their sacrifice is not forgotten, and support the RBL's fantastic work supporting veterans and their families."

Residents are also invited to join Remembrance events taking place in the borough on Remembrance Sunday (8 November):

Morning Service - Please ensure that you are seated by 10.45am.

The Royal British Legion Remembrance Service at St John the Evangelist Church, 3 Crawford Avenue, Wembley, HA0 2HX.

Afternoon Service - Please take your place at the Memorial by 1.50pm at the latest.

The Borough Civic Remembrance Service and Parade at The Memorial Site in Queen Elizabeth Gardens in Barham Park, Barham Park, Sudbury, HA0 2HB.
