Residents, businesses and community organisations are invited to help shape the future of climate action in the borough through a new survey and programme of engagement events.
The programme marks the start of a six-week review of Brent's Climate and Ecological Emergency Strategy and will gather views on the environmental issues that matter most to local people. Feedback will help inform an updated strategy for 2027-2030, setting clear priorities and aspirations for the next four years.
Since declaring a Climate and Ecological Emergency in 2019, Brent has worked alongside residents, schools, businesses, faith groups and community organisations to combat the impact of climate change, working to reduce carbon emissions, enhance biodiversity and strengthen the borough's resilience to climate change.
The review reflects the changing context since the original strategy was adopted, and addresses concerns around the feasibility of the council’s historic ambition to achieve borough-wide carbon neutrality by 2030. The council remains committed to reaching net zero emissions across its own corporate estate and operations by 2030, while continuing to work with communities and partners to drive meaningful climate action across the borough.
The engagement programme includes an online survey, community workshops across the borough, and targeted sessions – such as youth and business workshops – designed to ensure a wide range of voices are heard.
Residents can find out more about the review, complete the survey and view the full programme of engagement events.
