The next phase of South Kilburn’s regeneration has moved a step closer after the council’s Cabinet approved plans today (12 Oct) to appoint Ballymore Limited to help deliver the remaining stages of the programme.

To date the South Kilburn regeneration programme has delivered (including under construction) a total of 1,954 homes including 1,239 (63%) social rent homes. So far, 933 council tenants have moved into new homes through the programme.

More than 1,600 new homes are planned over the next 10 to 15 years, including affordable homes, alongside improvements to parks, public spaces and community facilities.

“

The proposed partnership with Ballymore will allow us to deliver the final phases of regeneration more quickly while continuing to put residents at the centre of our plans.

Councillor Matt Kelcher, Cabinet Member for Regeneration & Planning, said:

"The South Kilburn regeneration programme is one of the most important projects we are delivering in Brent. It is creating modern, energy-efficient homes whilst beginning to build a fantastic new community with a range of facilities for residents.

" The proposed partnership with Ballymore will allow us to deliver the final phases of regeneration more quickly while continuing to put residents at the centre of our plans.

"When I was in South Kilburn last week, residents were clear that they wanted us to create a neighbourhood which is a great place to live, with good-quality homes, welcoming public spaces and opportunities for local people. This is also our vision and one I look forward to delivering at pace, in partnership with Ballymore."

The council has already delivered a range of improvements across South Kilburn, including a medical centre, pharmacy, affordable workspaces, new public spaces and children's play areas. A new community hub is also being built at the Granville and Carlton Centres, which will include a nursery, family wellbeing centre, community halls, a café and space for local businesses and organisations.
