Where should new homes be built? What do you want to see in your town centre? Which places or green spaces should be protected? And, following a record-breaking hot summer, how can we make sure new developments are built to cope with our changing climate?
These are some of the big questions Brent Council is asking residents, businesses and other interested groups as it launches the first consultation on a new Local Plan.
A Local Plan is the borough's blueprint for the future. It helps decide where new homes, jobs, shops and community facilities should be built, how neighbourhoods should grow, and which green spaces, heritage assets and local landmarks should be protected. It shapes planning decisions across the borough and helps ensure growth happens in the right places.
Now, Brent is starting work on a new plan and wants local people to help define the priorities from the outset.
This is the first of three major consultations that will take place as the new Local Plan is prepared. At this stage, the council is not consulting on detailed proposals. Instead, it is asking people what issues the plan should focus on and how they want to be engaged over the next year as Brent puts together proposals.
Residents can share their views on topics including affordable housing, jobs and workspace, town centres, transport, climate change, parks and open spaces, community facilities and the unique character of Brent's neighbourhoods.
